Over the weekend, I redesigned my website. I'm mostly happy with what I have so far. Some of it was inspired by an old design I did for my site when it had been powered by WordPress.
Over the weekend, I redesigned my website. I'm mostly happy with what I have so far. Some of it was inspired by an old design I did for my site when it had been powered by WordPress.
This is helping to crystalize my thinking about Web Applications. I like Single Page Interfaces, but I have yet to articulate the reasoning behind my preference, even to myself.
In fact, I'm not sure that I am capable of that articulation yet. At the moment, my mind is a sieve. And, I am pouring everything I can about UI and UX design into it.
Marrying web pages with applications is a tricky business. One must remember that the history of the Web affects end user expectation of how a site will behave. As we start to embed applications into sites, we must learn how best to bring these two disparate sets of expectations together.

There is nothing like the sense of accomplishment from a job well done. And, every once in a while, I get a design problem stuck in my head. Often, it is about attempting to work with limited tools.
