Those of you who know my connection to the BBC may remember me describing that they had a private file sharing system that they had contributing writers testing for them. My access to the system ended a couple of months before this official announcement. I described it as BitTorrent meets iTunes.
Personally, I found it surprising that the BBC would want to reinvent the wheel this way. After all, why would the biggest English language content provider in the world want to have to deal directly with distribution? Traditionally, they have had other entities handle that. Has BitTorrent leveled the playing field that much?
